Alumni News: Fall 2013

MOLLIE LEWIS NOUWEN (Ph.D. ’08), assistant professor of history at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, has published her first book, Oy, My Buenos Aires: Jewish Immigrants and the Creation of Argentine National Identity (Albuquerque, NM: University of New Mexico Press, 2013), based on her Emory dissertation. Her article “From Textile Thieves to ‘Supposed Seamstresses’: Jews, Crime, and Ethnic Histories in Buenos Aires, 1905-1930” appeared in Rein and Brodsky (eds.) The New Jewish Argentina (Brill, 2013), which won the Best Book Award from the Latin American Jewish Studies Association, 2013.

ADAM TILOVE (C ‘94) has been appointed Head of School at the Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island. With some regret about leaving the role if classroom teacher, he is nevertheless thrilled to be taking on a more senior leadership position and looking forward to making exciting things happen over the entire community.
