Community of Scholars Showcase

Thank you for your support of the Tam Institute’s “Community of Scholars Showcase” on December 4.  We were very gratified with the attendance and enthusiasm generated by the event! More than a hundred people, representing current and former faculty, students, alumni, and members of the Atlanta community, came together  to celebrate 40 years of Jewish studies at Emory.

“Community of Scholars Showcase” attendees heard brief summaries of the research and teaching of selected TIJS faculty members, including David Blumenthal, Don Seeman, Ken Stein, Eric Goldstein, Catherine Dana, Peter Höyng, Jacob Wright, and Michael Berger.

Deborah Lipstadt, Miriam Udel, and Ellie Schainker discussed their newly-published books, followed by a book sale and signing.

A festive dinner was followed by the announcement of the David and Ursula Blumenthal Endowment Fund, created by TIJS to honor these two individuals who have been central to the development and flourishing of Jewish studies at Emory since their arrival in Atlanta in 1976. Their son Benjamin and grandson Raphael joined in the celebration.
